Job Description

Division: 2013-2014 Academic Year
TITLE: Educational Aide PreK - International Newcomers Academy

SALARY: Per the Cleveland Metropolitan School District's salary schedule for CTU classified employees.

  1. Works with small groups of students to reinforce academic skills
  2. Assists with the pre and post assessments of classroom children
  3. Maintains accurate records and reinforcement plans
  4. Maintains classroom routines and standards as established by the teacher
  5. Prepares instructional materials before and after class sessions
  6. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide a productive classroom environment
  7. Cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping solve health, attitude and learning problems
  8. Communicates in Bilingual with parents and other concerned individuals on pupil progress
  9. Ensures that students maintain orderly lines for purchasing food, and ensures that they are seated at the appropriate tables
  10. Circulates among the tables during the meal period to assist students with any any minor problems that may arise
  11. Encourages students to maintain proper dining etiquette and nutrition
  12. Participates as a member of the school team
  13. Performs other routine duties as assigned by principal
  14. Participates as a member of a school team
  15. Serves as a liaison between school and community to ensure the success of students
  1. High school diploma or GED required; related college education courses preferred
  2. Paraprofessionals must meet one of the following to be Highly Qualified: Associates Degree or a minimum of 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours or successfully passing the Para Pro Assessment
  3. Possess or be eligible for an Ohio Educational Aide Permit required
  4. Must be Bilingual
  5. A minimum of two years successful experience working with children preferred
  6. Prior experience working with students in an urban desegregated educational environment required
  7. Knowledge of basic good nutrition habits preferred
  8. Ability to work with minimum supervision
  9. Effective written and oral communication
  10. Genuine interest in children/youth
  11. Desire to serve the school and community
  12. Evidence of good health, vitality and enthusiasm
  13. Good human relations skills

This is a Union position.

Ohio House Bill 190 requires criminal record checks of job applicants under final consideration for positions. This records check is through the Ohio Bureau of criminal Identification and/or the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The records check is performed at the applicant's expense and any employment offer is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of the check.
