TITLE: Naviance Project Manager - Academics
PAY RATE:

The salary for this position is $65,000.

FUNCTION:

The Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD), serving approximately 40,000 students in grades Pre-K-12, in January 2010 announced the launch of the most far-reaching transformation plan in its history to dramatically improve the quality of educational programs for CMSDs students. An important key to the success of the Districts plan is the ongoing services provided through the office of Academics.

The role of the Project Manager is to plan, execute, and implement Naviance Succeed according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes coordinating the efforts of working team members and any third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the projects objectives on an annual basis and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.

The Project Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for everything related to Naviance Succeed, working primarily with CMSD staff members and collaboratively with Cleveland Foundation and College Now Greater Cleveland staff to ensure that all components of Naviance Succeed are carried out and documented appropriately. The position will be responsible to both the Deputy Chief of Organizational Accountability and the Flexible Content Expert for Career and Technical Education at the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. The Project Manager position is a term-limited, grant-funded position that will be reviewed on an annual basis.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Direct and manage the ongoing maintenance and educational activities to ensure the ongoing success of the project over time
  2. Define project scope, goals and deliverables on an annual basis that support business goals in collaboration with Naviance work group and stakeholders
  3. Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
  4. Develop and implement training sessions for project stakeholders (i.e. teachers, administrators, counselors, and parents)
  5. Continue to strengthen the college-going culture by providing clear communication and focused marketing to the school community highlighting the tools and resources available through Naviance
  6. Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents
  7. Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
  8. Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis
  9. Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals
  10. Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders
  11. Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate work group members as necessary
  12. Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team
  13. Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools
  14. Track project milestones and deliverables
  15. Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations
  16. Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas
  17. Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans
  18. Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle
  19. Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
  20. Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management
  21. Conduct research, as appropriate, providing information on findings to Program Directors
  22. Other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. University degree or college diploma in the field of Education, Counseling, Social Work or a related field
  2. Preferred work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution
  3. Customer service skills required
  4. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks
  5. Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies, and comfort with web-applications, including the ability to guide users through a web environment
  6. Technically competent with various software programs, such as Microsoft Office products. Experience with Project or similar tool would be useful
  7. Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
  8. Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  9. Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently
  10. Ability to become flexible during times of change
  11. Ability to read communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines
  12. Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating
  13. Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments
  14. Ability to defuse tension among project team, should it arise
  15. Ability to bring project to successful completion through political sensitivity
  16. Strong written and oral communication skills
  17. Strong interpersonal skills
  18. Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products
  19. Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
