Job Description

Division: Closing the Achievement Gap Program
TITLE: Director - Closing The Achievement Gap Program (CTAG)
PAY RATE:

The salary for this position is $75,853.

FUNCTION:

We are seeking to hire a Director for the Closing the Achievement Gap Program who will be responsible for managing linkage and diversity coordinators in 13 of our District High Schools. We are looking for someone who is entrepreneurial and seeking an opportunity to establish a strategic direction that incorporates research-based best practices. The Director will be responsible for establishing the goals for the program and working with the linkage and diversity coordinators to ensure they are focusing on the areas of student advocacy, community support, student achievement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Strategic oversight of Closing the Achievement Gap Program: Establish and clearly articulate short-term and long-term strategic vision for the Closing the Achievement Gap Program
  2. Incorporate research-based best practices in how to engage at-risk youth into goals for the program. Modify program elements to incorporate initiatives that may have higher impact on students
  3. Establish annual and monthly goals and focus areas for the Closing the Achievement Gap Program
  4. Identify key metrics and data to monitor and measure the effectiveness of program
  5. Oversee the progress of the high schools in the program for the successful academic progress of the most at-risk boys. Activities may include meeting with the Principal and school leadership to discuss progress with the program and incorporate any changes to improve the level of support provided
  6. Collect data to monitor and increase, where necessary, the level of participation of the targeted 9th grade males and their parents
  7. Provide written reports or assessments on the impact of the Closing the Achievement Gap Program
  8. Supervise and support linkage and diversity coordinators to deliver high quality service
  9. Supervise linkage and diversity coordinators to ensure they are delivering a high level of service to our students, families, schools, and community
  10. Monitor linkage coordinators to see if they are helping schools along a number of key performance metrics including lower student drop-out rates, higher attendance rates, improved OGT results, and reduced suspensions and behavioral issues
  11. Monitor diversity coordinators in the development and facilitation of culturally responsive professional development sessions
  12. Assist linkage coordinators in motivating eligible students to participate and stay in the program activities
  13. Facilitate the implementation of specific initiatives in the schools
  14. Collect data to monitor and increase, where necessary, the level of participation of the targeted 9th grade males and their parents
  15. Implement and direct the implementation of District and/or Board of Education policies and procedures
  16. Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelor's Degree preferred
  2. Minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated management experience
  3. A personal sense of accountability around the ultimate success of CMSD transformation
  4. Excellent organizational, written and oral communication and customer service skills
  5. Prior experience successfully working in an urban educational environment required
  6. Ability to maintain a professional manner when interacting with Cleveland Metropolitan School District staff and public
  7. Self motivated and an ability to work on multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  8. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, staff and community
